Aucho says the team’s desire to keep fighting in any situation is the reason behind the team’s performance.

When Khalid Aucho and ten other Young Africans players walked out of the Benjamin Mkapa stadium tunnel on a wet Sunday evening to face Monastir, they all had only one thing on their minds.

That was to seal a quarter-final spot in the CAF Confederations Cup for the first time in the club's history.

And yes, they did, a 2-0 win with Zambian Kenneth Musonda and Congolese Fiston Kalala Mayele each scoring in either half to seal the deal.

Aucho says the team’s desire to keep fighting in any situation is the reason behind the team’s performance.

“To qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup quarter-finals for the very first time is such a huge step for all of the players and the club,” Aucho told Pulse Sports.

“For me, it all comes down to the effort everyone is putting in. We’re all putting in an effort, even the administrators.”

Young Africans are currently eight points ahead of arch-rivals Simba, although they each have a game in hand.
