EA Sports FIFA have announced its annual Team of the Year, as voted for by fans of the iconic football game.
Weeks ago, popular soccer game franchise - EA Sports gave fans and the EA Sports community a chance to vote for the FIFA 23 Team of the Year.
Fans were asked to pick a starting XI from a shortlist of the world's top 100 footballers - a shortlist which included everyone from Lionel Messi to Mohamed Salah as well as the world’s biggest stars in football.
Following the close of voting, the final 11 FIFA Team Of The Year players have been revealed.
This year saw Moroccan wingback and 2022 World Cup star Achraf Hakimi returns to the team after fans voted for the 24-year-old following his impressive performances for club and country last year.
Hakimi is the only African to make it into this year’s list as well.
Pulse Sports presents the final XI of EA Sports FIFA 23.
So without further, here's who was chosen:
FIFA 23 Team Of The Year
GK Thibaut Courtois - 96
The Real Madrid shot stopper and UEFA Champions League winner in 2022 has already cemented himself as one of the greatest of his generation over the last 12 months.
LB Theo Hernandez - 94
One of the best attacking full-backs around, Theo Hernandez was key to Milan winning their first Scudetto in a decade and also starred for France as they reached the finals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
LCB Virgil van Dijk - 96
The Dutch captain was great in the first half of 2022 but incredibly fell of in the second part of the season.
RCB Eder Militao - 94
To our biggest surprise, the Brazilian made the cut ahead of his Austrian centre-back partner at Real Madrid David Alaba.
RB Achraf Hakimi - 94
Let’s be absolutely clear on this, Hakimi is currently the 'best right-back in the world', having taken the crown from Trent Alexander Arnold in 2022.
LCM Jude Bellingham - 95
The Three Lions midfielder stepped up his game in 2022 at Borussia Dortmund and looks set for a mega-money move in the summer with some of Europe’s elite constantly lurking.
CM Kevin De Bruyne - 97
De Bruyne has been consistently brilliant for Manchester City in the last four years and remains a fan-favourite despite his travails at international level.
RCM Luka Modric - 96
It’s just incredible that the 37-year-old Croatian maestro is still world-class.
LW Kylian Mbappe - 97
There is, won’t, can’t, will never be any argument over Mbappe’s inclusion in this list and expect him to return in subsequent editions as well.
With the world at his feet, the PSG star looks set to dominate the game for years to come.
ST Karim Benzema - 97
There was no better player in the world at the 2022/23 season than Real Madrid’s talisman.
A deserved Ballon d’Or and FIFA The Best crown is a testament to that.
RW Lionel Messi - 98
The Argentine great finally added a FIFA World Cup to his trophy cabinet and proved he's the best player of all time. An incredible 2022 he had.
