AFC Leopards will hope to secure back-to-back victories as they take on troubled Murang’a Seal who have gone five games without a win.

AFC Leopards will head into a match as the confident team for the first time this season when they take on Murang’a Seal at the SportPesa Arena on Wednesday.

Ingwe are off a morale-boosting 2-0 derby win over Kakamega Homeboyz, secured on Sunday, in what was just their second victory of the season.

The victory ended a run of six games without a win for Ingwe and they will be hoping to build on it in Murang’a.

There is no better time for Leopards to get maximum points than now when their opponents are low on confidence, having gone five games without a win.

It is nearly two months since Gabriel ‘Kingi’ Njoroge’s men tasted victory, a 2-1 win over Tusker FC on November 5, and since then, it has been downhill.

Murang’a Seal were third on the table at that point but three defeats and two draws have seen them drop to eighth, leaving coach Njoroge starring at the axe.

Njoroge reportedly did not attend Tuesday’s training session with his assistant Dennis Okoth slotting in, raising more eyebrows over his position at the club.

The players are, however, remaining confident in the face of the difficult circumstances.

“We are more focused now than ever. We anticipate high concentration and expect maximum points,” said goalkeeper Bonphas Munyasa.

Goals have been hard to come for Murang’a Seal during their winless spell, scoring just two while conceding seven over that period, having banged in seven while letting in three, in the five games preceding the poor run.

Njoroge will therefore have to ensure they are tight at the back to fend off Leopards who are hoping to capitalise on their porous backline to secure their third win of the season.

Ingwe’s victory lifted them from the relegation zone to 13th on the table with 14 points but they will need to keep winning to stay away from the dreaded zone given fellow strugglers Kariobangi Sharks, Shabana and Sofapaka have the same tally.
