Los Blancos came into the game on a high, beating Athletic Club in their first league game of the season. They turned up at the Power Horse Stadium looking to make two in two, and thanks to their big-money signing, they brushed aside their opposition to rise to the top of the league table.

How it happened

The hosts sucker-punched Carlo Ancelotti’s men before the game developed into any sort of rhythm when Sergio Arribas got on the end of a beautiful delivery to head Almeria home against his former club.

They went close to making it two but failed before Real Madrid found their footing in the game and started to return fire. Their industry was rewarded in the 19th minute of the game when the English midfielder scored the first of his brace.

Toni Kross thought he pulled the visitors ahead in first-half injury time, but VAR chalked it off. Los Merengues will not be denied for long, however, as the German’s clipped pass found Bellingham in the box, who in turn headed home not long after resumption from the break.

Vinicius closed off the scoring in the 73rd minute of the game when he got on the end of Bellingham’s delivery to make it 4-1. The hosts pushed to reduce the deficit, but the scoreboard remained unchanged.
