Brighton's Moises Caicedo missed Saturday's training and will miss Sunday's game against Liverpool

Brighton’s Moises Caicedo was absent for the team's training amid an ongoing bidding war between Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature.

Brighton adamant that Caicedo will not be sold

Yesterday, it was reported that Brighton had rejected a £60 million offer from Arsenal for the Ecuadorian midfielder, having already rejected a £55 million bid from Chelsea, and now it has been reported that Caicedo did not train with the team and will not feature in Brighton’s FA Cup fixture against Liverpool on Sunday.

It is believed that Caicedo’s absence is due to the club isolating him from the rest of the squad until the end of the January transfer window on Tuesday.

Brighton’s repeated rejection of bids is in-line with the club’s stance that Caicedo was not up for sale until at least the summer, and their position seems unchanged even in light of the player's desperation to leave the club this window.

Caicedo begs for move to bigger club

Despite Brighton making their stance known to Caicedo, the 21-year-old midfielder still has his heart set on a move during the January transfer window, forcing the club to make the decision to ask him to stay away from training until the window passes.

A Twitter user, claiming to be Caicedo also made an impassioned plea for the midfielder to be sold by the club this window after news broke that Arsenal’s £60m bid had been rejected.

In the tweet, the user acknowledges how instrumental Brighton has been in Caicedo’s development but urges them to allow the midfielder to leave so that he can lift his large family out of poverty.

So far, Brighton remain adamant in their decision not to sell Caicedo, and not even the pleas on Twitter, however authentic, will change their mind.
