Among the eight reportedly running down their contracts are club captain Rashid Toha and his deputy Gaddafi Wahab.

After finishing the Startimes Uganda Premier League season in a respectable fourth place with 44 points, Arua Hill will be hoping to build on that performance.

But that might have to start with retaining the core of the team that led to that achievement.

And with up to eight senior members of the squad reportedly out of contract, negotiations will have to move fast to rule out any departures.

Among the eight reportedly running down their contracts are club captain Rashid Toha and his deputy Gaddafi Wahab.

The others are striker Isaac Ogwang, Nigerian Innocent Maduka, Ivan Eyam and defenders Isaac Okello, Richard Matovu and Geriga Atendere.

Toha and Wahab are the leaders of the team and played an essential role as the team went about its business in the top flight.

Toha was also the club’s joint lead scorer last season, contributing five goals on top of his defensive responsibilities.

The club registered some big wins, including a 1-0 victory over SC Villa, which in the end, played a part in denying the record champions a first league title in 19 years.

The West Nile club is expected to enter negotiations with some of the players to have their contracts renewed.

Meanwhile, there remain unanswered questions regarding head coach Livingstone Mbabazi, whose future has been a topic of discussion since the season ended.

The former Onduparaka and Mbarara City FC tactician has been linked to different teams, and his stay in West Nile is far from guaranteed.
