It is official, Joao Cancelo will team up with Sadio Mane at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Manchester City’s Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo on a loan deal with an option for purchase in the summer for €70 million.

He will join Bayern's first team immediately after completing his medicals.

Bayern smelled blood in the water and pounced

Bayern swooped in as rumours of a falling out between Cancelo and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made rounds, putting their foot in the door for the wantaway star.

According to multiple sources, Cancelo and Guardiola no longer see eye to eye, and the full-back asked to be sold because he felt targeted by his coach in certain scenarios and has become overly disgruntled with the amount of playing time he is currently getting.

Cancelo has started only three of Manchester City’s last 10 fixtures and has not featured in the last three matches since his poor outing against Manchester United.

Great for Bayern but who covers City now?

Bayern will be glad to have a versatile player like Cancelo on the books with injuries to key full-backs and illnesses ravaging the team.

Lucas Hernandez’ torn ACL was followed by Noussair Mazraoui needing to take some time off to recover from pericarditis.

Joao Cancelo leave Manchester City after two years

They would certainly love to have Cancelo, who was named to the PFA team of the year in back-to-back seasons, as one of their options at either right-back or left-back.

Manchester City on the other hand will have to depend on the services of Kyle Walker as the only recognised full back at the club, with Rico Lewis and Sergi Gomez yet to make up to 10 starts in the Premier League between them, and Nathan Ake, John Stones, and Manuel Akanji all naturally centre-backs although they can operate as full-backs as well.
