Dortmund took advantage of Bayern Munich's earlier slip by beating Augsburg 0-3 to assend to the top of the table.

Borussia Dortmund will have the chance to win the Bundesliga title for the first time in eleven years following a 0-3 demolition of hosts Augsburg in a league match played at the WWK Arena on Sunday evening.

Dortmund started the better of the two sides throughout, and the pressure proved too much for Augsburg, with Uduokhai seeing red after denying Dortmund’s Donyell Malen a clear goalscoring opportunity in the 38th minute.

This forced Augbsurg coach Enrico Maaßen into making a substitution. In came defender Maxmilian Bauer for Kevin Yeboah as he attempted to adjust his tactics given the less man advantage.

Dortmund came out the second half purring and wanting to take advantage of that vulnerable situation.

They took the lead through Ivorian striker Sebastian Haller with a typical clinical finish in the box in the 58th minute.

They would then double their lead in the 80th minute after Dortmund captain Marco Reus set up Haller to make it his second goal of the night.

Julian Brandt would put the game to bed in the 90th minute when he made it three after centre back Nico Shlotterback won the ball and before finding Julian Brandth who found a way to slot it in with the tip of his boot late in the game.

The result now means lead the table on 70 points and will have to win their last match to seal the title.
