The Burundian champions have been pooled against the hosts Kampala Queens, Yei Joints FC (South Sudan) and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Group A.

Burundian side Buja Queens has confirmed the acquisition of seven Kenyan players as they prepare for the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifier at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Uganda.

The Burundian champions have been pooled against the hosts Kampala Queens, Yei Joints FC (South Sudan) and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Group A.

The team has signed experienced players, including Rachael Muema, Monica Karambu, Diana Wachera, Lydia Waganda, Elizabeth Wambui and experienced Kenya Women National Team midfielders Topister Situma and Corazon Aquino.

Wambui and Aquino scored one apiece as Situma grabbed four when Buja Queens thrashed FOFILA-PF 6-0 in last week's 2023 Women's Summer Cup.

Aquino is not a strange face to Ugandans, especially Kampala Queens captain Hassifa Nassuna since her debut was against the Crested Cranes in the inaugural CECAFA in Njeru in 2016.

The midfielder has played for Gaspo in Nairobi, Portuguese side Atletico Ourense and Simba from Tanzania before crossing over to Burundi.

She was part of their national team that debuted at the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Both Aquino and Situma played for Charles Ayiekoh's Simba in the CAF Women's Champions League continental final last year in Morocco where they finished fourth.

GROUP A - Kampala Queens, Yei Joints FC (South Sudan), Buja Queens (Burundi) & Commercial Bank of Ethiopia

GROUP B - JKT Queens (Tanzania), AS Kigali Women (Rwanda), New Generation FC(Zanzibar), Vihiga Queens (Kenya)
