Ugandan international Erisa Keith Ssekisambu is a sad soul, not after his Kiyovu SC side threw away an opportunity to stretch their lead at Sunday's Primus Rwanda Premier League summit.

Ssekisambu featured for his side as they went down 1-0 to Sunrise and even missed a penalty in a must-win game that would have given them a three-point cushion as they head into the final match day with a considerable chance of winning the league.

The 27-year-old winger says it was heart-breaking for him as his side failed to earn maximum points on the day.

"I am speechless; it's a low moment in my career because we lost the top spot," Ssekisambu told Pulse Sports.

"Missing the penalty, which would have earned us a point, makes it even worse for a team that has waited 30 years to win the league."

"However, I believe God has a plan for us; we can still win the league on the season's final day," he added.

Kiyovu, who are now level on points (60) with APR with one round of matches to be played, will now hope that APR will lose to Gorilla FC in their final game away while they win at home against Rutsiro FC.

If both sides win, the title will be determined on goal difference, which is currently in APR's hands with a negative seven (-7); the army side is on 50 while Kiyovu SC is on 43.

Ssekisambu and his side will have to score at least eight goals and hope APR concede as many or lose to Gorilla FC on the campaign's final day.

Kiyovu SC last won the league in 1997; they're hunting for their seventh league title in the club's history, while APR is the most successful, having won it a record 20 times.
