Dazzling Agnes Nabukenya fires Kawempe Muslims past Uganda Martyrs

Kawempe continued their pursuit for this season's league glory, as they currently lead proceedings with 24 points in ten matches.

Youngster Agnes Nabukenya continued to stamp herself as the most in-form player in the FUFA Women's Super League as she scored to guide Kawempe Muslims Ladies Football Club past Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women's Football Club.

Nabukenya netted with two minutes to the half-hour mark to give her side a 1-0 victory at the St Geralds Stadium on Saturday.

The result marked the first win in as many games in the second round of the 2023/24 campaign.

Kawempe continued their pursuit for this season's league glory, as they currently lead proceedings with 24 points in ten matches.

They sit four points ahead of runners-up and defending champions Kampala Queens, who have played a game less. The latter take on Wakiso Hills on Sunday at the St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende.

Meanwhile, Uganda Martyrs currently sit sixth with 12 points in 10 games.

While Kawempe Muslims will be away to Lady Doves in their subsequent game on February 25, Uganda Martyrs will have visited Wakiso Hills a day earlier.

In the other games on the day, Rines SS edged Lady Doves 1-0 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium to move seventh (nine points), while the latter stayed fourth with 12 points.

She Maroons stayed third with 16 points after a 3-1 away win over UCU Lady Cardinals at the latter's sports grounds. UCU sit fifth with 12 points.
