In-form Young Africans forward Fiston Kalala Mayele and Simba SC's defensive rock Henock Inonga Baka have been included in the squad.

DR. Congo head coach Sebastian Desabre has summoned a 27-man squad ahead of his side's 2023 AFCON qualifier against Gabon away and a friendly against the Uganda Cranes.

In-form Young Africans forward Fiston Kalala Mayele and Simba SC's defensive rock Henock Inonga Baka have been included in the squad.

Other notable inclusions are Gael Kakuta (Amiens - France), Jonathan Bolingi (Buriram United - DR Congo), Yoane Wissa (Brentford - England) and Meschak Elia (Young Boys - Switzerland).

DR. Congo is expected to face Uganda Cranes in a friendly game in Doula, Cameroon, on 14th June at the Jopoma stadium before their AFCON qualifier.

Both Inonga and Mayele have had contrasting seasons with their respective clubs, with Mayele scoring for fun as Young Africans retained the title and reached their maiden interclub final in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Inonga's Simba, on the other hand, have struggled this season, going a second straight trophyless campaign after they were eliminated from the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, the semifinals of the domestic Cup and finishing second to Young Africans in the league.

The Leopards have had a brutal AFCON 2023 qualifier campaign; they're currently bottom of Group I with four points, picking up two losses, one draw and one win in as many games.

Desabre's charges will face a Pierre Emrick Aubameyang-inspired Gabon side in Libreville on 18th June and need a win to get their qualification campaign back on track.

The two-time Africa Cup of Nations winners last played at the AFCON in 2019, where they faced Uganda in the same group with Sebastien Desabre the head coach for the Uganda Cranes at the time.

The Cranes won the group stage meeting 2-0, with Farouk Miya and Emmanuel Okwi scoring the goals.
