Gor Mahia saw their gate collections drop again during their FKF Premier League match against Nairobi City Stars that ended in defeat on Thursday.

Gor Mahia have revealed what the club generated in gate collection from their FKF Premier League defeat to basement side Nairobi City Stars, who stunned them 2-1 on Thursday.

K’Ogalo had been handed a massive boost in the title race when both Tusker FC and Kenya Police lost on Wednesday and all they needed was to win their two games in hand to move top of the table.

However, the first of the two games went horribly wrong as City Stars, bottom of the table, completed a double over them to slow their charge towards the league summit.

From the match staged at Dandora Stadium, just 1,158 tickets were sold, generating Ksh242,100, but the club’s treasurer Gerphas Okuku still lamented the behaviour of some fans who made their way into the match venue without paying.

K’Ogalo Experience Drop in Revenue

It is a recurring theme among some Gor Mahia fans who are denying the club revenue through such acts as K’Ogalo strive to attract numbers into the stadium.

Gor Mahia have not benefited a lot from gate collection like their rivals in recent months, partly due to the fact that they are playing at smaller stadiums, while their fans have also not been filling up match venues, especially during weekdays.

The amount is less than half of what the club collected from their previous home match at the same venue against Mara Sugar on April 27 when they managed Ksh457,500 from 2,190 tickets sold.

K’Ogalo fans have, however, helped generate millions for rival teams like the Mashemeji Derby, which saw AFC Leopards collect over Ksh7 million, and the recent Nyanza Derby that witnessed Shabana rake in Ksh5 million.
