News of their expulsion leaked almost 24 hours before they got official communication.

Twenty-time Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have petitioned Football Kenya Federation to be reinstated to CAF Champions League after the federations’ First Instance Body (FIB) revoked their participation to the continent’s premier club championship.

Gor Mahia presented to FKF payment slips clearing salary arrears owed to foreign trio of Jules Ulimwengu, Sando Yangayay and Adama Keita.

While news of Gor Mahia’s expulsion from the CAF Champions League was awash on social media on Thursday evening, the club only received official communication from the federation on Friday afternoon.

The First Instance Body and federation mandarins had leaked the sensitive matter to the media leaving Gor Mahia unable to respond as the had not received any official communication.

They have, in a letter signed by Secretary General Sam Ochola protested their innocence and pleaded their case to the federation Chief Executive Barry Otieno.

“We write to appeal on the revocation of our club license certificate; we received the letter this afternoon via FKF through Barry Otieno. On the overdue payables to our former players namely; Sando Yangayay, Adama Keita and Jules Ulimwengu

To confirm to your able office all the overdue payables to the above former players has been remitted and all the remittance slips shared herein.

We request your able office to reconsider the earlier decision on revoking our certificate and reinstate our club on the CAF Inter-Club Competition,” the statement read.

It is now up to CAF to decide whether they will re-admit Gor to the competition, and include them into Friday evening's draw, given the said payment were made past the deadline.
