Injury blow for Ingwe as midfielder faces extended spell on the sidelines.

Twelve-time Kenyan champions AFC Leopards have been dealt a blow as midfielder Victor Omune will be sidelined for the beginning of the 2023/2024 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season due to a knee injury.

The 30-year-old's absence is expected to extend for several weeks, leaving fans and the team concerned about his recovery timeline.

Last season, Omune demonstrated his dedication to the team by playing through the pain barrier despite suffering from an injury.

Despite his valiant efforts, the persistent injury has now forced him to take a break from the game to recover fully.

"Unfortunately, I will miss the start of the season with a knee injury and I will be out for close to four months as the doctors have said. But I believe I will be back better and stronger. Thanks a lot for the love," Omune wrote, expressing optimism about his recovery journey.

Recently, Ingwe's head coach, Tom Juma, acknowledged that the midfielder's absence would be prolonged, though he refrained from disclosing specific details about the injury.

Victor Omune rejoined AFC Leopards from KCB in January 2022, bringing with him a wealth of experience and skills to bolster the team's midfield.

His football journey has also included a stint with Muhoroni Youth, showcasing his commitment to contributing to various clubs' successes throughout his career.

Despite the setbacks, Omune played an instrumental role in AFC Leopards' performance last season, which culminated in a commendable seventh-place finish in the FKF Premier League.

He notably netted four goals in the 6-0 mauling of FC Talanta last season, becoming the first player to score four goals in an FKF Premier League match since Masud Juma for Kariobangi Sharks against Muhoroni Youth in 2017.

The impressive performance earned him a call up to Harambee Stars where he started the 2-1 loss to Iran back in March.

His presence on the field, along with his determination to push through adversity, earned him respect and admiration from both his teammates and fans.
