According to the head coach of the Reggae Boys, Jamaica are open to Mason Greenwood if he leaves the England national team.

The former Manchester United attacker scored his first goal in LaLiga on Sunday while playing on loan at Getafe.

Due to his Jamaican heritage and the fact that he has only appeared in one senior match for England, Greenwood is qualified to represent the island nation at the international level.

The Jamaican head coach has now said the door is open to Greenwood should he decide to leave England.

Jamaica, another option for Greenwood

The 22-year-old was excluded by Gareth Southgate from a later England call-up, and he hasn't been a contender for the Three Lions since the alleged incident.

However, Heimir Hallgrimsson, head coach of Jamaica, did not exclude the player's return to the international team, even if it were in a different country.

When asked about the potential of Greenwood changing sides, Hallgrimsson told The Athletic, “I don't think I am different from all coaches in the world. We would like to have the best talent in our teams.

“If he gets his former fitness and his former level, that level could help Jamaica, and all coaches would want to have good players in their team and we are no different.

“Of course, he will come with some baggage, but it's premature to talk about players that are not here.

“But whatever happens will happen. I want the best players with the best abilities playing for my team.”

Meanwhile, Dennis Chung, the secretary general of the Jamaica Football Federation, expressed a similar interest in Greenwood in February.

However, according to reports, it's believed that Greenwood first declined the chance to play for Jamaica.
