Mamelodi Sundowns' coach vows an all-out assault in the AFL final against Wydad, seeking to overturn a first-leg deficit for history.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has declared that his team will leave no stone unturned as they prepare to face Wydad Casablanca in the second leg of the African Football League (AFL) final.

The South African side finds themselves trailing 2-1 after last weekend's first leg and is determined to overturn the deficit at home to secure the inaugural AFL crown.

In a press conference, Mokwena stated, "We will do everything we can to be champions at the end of the day. It is not over. We still have the second leg and will throw everything at Wydad."

The PSL champions are well aware of the uphill battle they face, but Mokwena's confidence remains unshaken.

Despite Kenya international Brian Mandela being an unused substitute in the first leg match, the coach is determined to adopt an aggressive gameplan at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

"We showed very good character and fought hard against a very good opponent in an intense atmosphere," Mokwena praised his players for their spirited display in Casablanca, where they faced a hostile environment at Stade Mohammed V.

Sundowns also have a potentially pivotal away goal in their favor, thanks to Abdelmonem Boutouil's penalty.

Sundowns will have the advantage of playing in front of a roaring 90,000 capacity home crowd this weekend, and Mokwena is demanding even higher levels from his team as they stand on the brink of AFL history.

"We have to prepare to recover and get players rested before we throw everything at Wydad," he added.

By talking up his side's fighting spirit and stressing that the tie is far from over, Mokwena has effectively cranked up the pressure on Wydad.

The expectation is that Mokwena will field Brian Mandela, the Kenyan defender, in the return leg match, which is set to be a crucial one in determining the AFL champion.

Sundowns are well aware that a fast start, backed by the fervent support of their home crowd, could dramatically swing the final back in their favor.

The South African team has defied expectations to reach this stage, and they are now plotting one last heroic effort to stun Wydad and claim AFL glory.
