A Kenyan man is nursing head injuries following a scuffle during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

City hosted cross-town rivals United in the Manchester derby and despite the Red Devils taking an early lead through Marcus Rashford’s rocket, the home side scored three late goals through Phil Foden’s brace and Erling Haaland to run out 3-1 winners.

However, as Pep Guardiola’s men were celebrating in Manchester, a fan in Kenya was nursing wounds inflicted courtesy of the match.

According to a report filed at Muthangari Police Station, the incident happened in Coast area of Kawangware in Nairobi when the 42-year-man was hit on the head by a piece of sharp granite by a female fan after the two had a confrontation during the first half of the match.

The report said the man sustained deep injuries which led to serious bleeding and was offered first aid at a local clinic before he was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment.

It is not known if the two were known to each other but they had to be separated by other fans who were also watching the match when they noticed the situation was getting out of hand.

It is the second time this season a fan is finding himself in trouble over a match involving United.

In September 2023, a man had to be rushed to the hospital when he tried to consume a tray of boiled eggs after Erik ten Hag’s men lost 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The man was reportedly so sure of United winning the match that he promised fellow fans that he would consume a tray of eggs if the Red Devils lost.

As it turned out, the Gunners triumphed but he struggled to honour his bet, leading to the unfortunate incident.
