Kenyan striker Michael Olunga anticipates change as Al Duhail eyes Christophe Galtier as their new coach, following Hernán Crespo's departure.

Kenya international Michael Olunga is on the cusp of welcoming a new coaching chapter in his career as Qatar's Al Duhail gears up for a change at the helm.

Christophe Galtier, an experienced managerial figure, is currently in advanced talks with the Qatari club to take over as their new head coach.

This move comes on the heels of Hernán Crespo's unexpected dismissal, paving the way for Galtier to step into a new role in Qatar.

Galtier's previous stint with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) concluded in July 2023, where he spent just one season in the dugout at Parc des Princes.

Despite having a year left on his contract, the 56-year-old manager had already left his mark by clinching the Ligue 1 title in the previous season. However, his tenure was not without its critics, primarily due to another early exit from the Champions League.

The decision to part ways with Crespo came as a surprise to many, as the Argentine had steered Al-Duhail to considerable success during his time in charge.

Despite his impressive record of 34 wins, 6 draws, and 8 losses in 48 matches, a lackluster start in the international cup ultimately led to his abrupt departure. Interestingly, Crespo is now being considered by Racing, a club that had expressed interest in him even before the arrival of Fernando Gago.

Crespo's departure marks a significant turning point for Al-Duhail, a club that had enjoyed a remarkable run under his leadership. With three titles to their name and a fourth-place ranking in the local tournament, the decision to part ways with him was unanticipated but emphasizes the club's determination to strive for excellence.

The potential arrival of Christophe Galtier as the new head coach is poised to inject fresh energy and tactics into Al-Duhail. Galtier brings a wealth of experience and success to the table, having proven his mettle by securing the Ligue 1 title.

His reputation as a tactical maestro could provide the necessary boost to Al-Duhail's aspirations, especially in continental competitions like the Champions League.

As the negotiations between Galtier and Al-Duhail reach their final stages, fans and pundits alike eagerly await the official announcement of this managerial transition. The move is seen as a strategic step by Al-Duhail to reinvigorate their campaign, both domestically and internationally, and to build upon the strong foundation laid down by Crespo.

Michael Olunga, the Harambee Stars captain, will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in this new era. Known for his scoring prowess and ability to make a difference on the field, Olunga's partnership with Galtier could be a defining factor in Al-Duhail's quest for continued success.
