Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has revealed that the atmosphere in the camp is high after two players had to be sent packing after being involved in an altercation.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga insists spirits in the camp are high despite the fact two senior players were sent away from camp for being involved in a brawl on Thursday morning.

Abud Omar and Eric Johana Omondi were sent packing after they were involved in an altercation, which could have poisoned the atmosphere in camp.

This  left  coach Engin Firat with no choice but to resolve the problem by sending them home in order to calm down the tensions.

The gaffer called up Sharrif Musa and Vincent Mahiga as replacements, and Olunga believes everyone has settled in well in Malawi and the side will be up to the task in Malawi.

“It is good, the preparation has been good. We arrived safe and sound and had the first training session yesterday (Thursday) , so the boys are cheered up,” Olunga said.

“We have done our preparation and homework and everybody is ready and motivated like the coach has said. It is good to bring in some new players in the team with sight of the world cup qualifiers.

Some new faces are set to get a chance to show what they can do at the international stage, and Olunga insists that the tournament will be a good opportunity for them to earn enough trust to earn more caps in future.

“We need to try new talents each and every day, and these kind of games , especially during the international fifa break gives players a chance to play high level football.

“Sometimes, the players can be good in the league, but when you expose them to international fixtures, you expose them to better players who are playing internationally and it gives them a chance to showcase their skills against some of the best.”

“It is set to be an exciting, entertaining game now especially when playing against the hosts if you look at the tournament and the caliber of games and we need to come prepared.”

Stars will face Malawi on Saturday from 3 PM, before facing one of Zibambwe or Zambia in their second clash.
