However,  per multiple reports, Isabirye and Express have since been locked in talks, which have, apparently, been positive.

Reigning Uganda Premier League-winning coach Alex Isabirye is set to stay with his current employer, Express FC after talks of resignation hit the waves over the weekend.

Following their 4-3 Uganda Premier League defeat to KCCA FC on Saturday, the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, Isabirye, reportedly asked to leave the club.

However,  per multiple reports, Isabirye and Express have since been locked in talks, which have, apparently, been positive.

During the talks, according to journalist Brian Kawalya, Isabirye raised a number of issues, including players' arrears.

Meanwhile, against KCCA, the Red Eagles surrendered a 3-1 lead to the Kasasiro Boys, who struck thrice in the second half to win the tie.

The manner in which they conceded late in the games against KCCA and Mbarara City FC has also raised a bit of red flags for Isabirye.

Also against KCCA, a number of Express fans attacked him with verbal insults, and some almost physically assaulted him, while others questioned his tactics, substitutions and approach.

Efforts by Pulse Sports Uganda to reach Isabirye to ascertain the claims have been futile, as he didn't receive the calls on his known numbers.

Initially, Isabirye joined Express in December on a one-month contract and impressed as he won four of the six games in that spell.

The impressive results that included a winning run of four games earned him praise from the 'Mukwano Gwabangi' faithful, and his pending exit came as a shock.

Meanwhile, in January, Isabirye was thereby rewarded a 'longer' contract, whose terms nor duration were made public.

However, he has yet to win a match in the second round, losing to Mbarara City FC (3-1) and KCCA.

Express currently sit eighth on the UPL log with 25 points in 17 matches, 12 off leaders BUL FC.

It should be noted that Isabirye took over from James Odoch, who was shown the exit door by the club administration.
