According to recent reports, Victor Osimhen's potential move to Manchester United hinges on astronomical wage demands
A potential move for Victor Osimhen to Manchester United could be on the rocks reportedly due to the Nigerian striker’s salary demands.
The prolific Super Eagles striker reportedly wants a bigger paycheck than current captain Bruno Fernandes, creating tension behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
Osimhen’s demands cause a stir at Manchester United
Manchester United are desperate to fix their goal-scoring woes this summer, with Ruben Amorim hunting for a lethal striker to kick off his reign.
Rasmus Hojlund struggled all season, much like Joshua Zirkzee, and while names like Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres are floating around, many at Old Trafford see Osimhen, fresh off a 33-goal season with Galatasaray, as the elite answer.
His parent club Napoli are even open to giving United a discount, mainly to block domestic rival Juventus from swooping in.
Osimhen is reportedly keen on joining Amorim's squad, even without Champions League football, unlike Gyokeres, who appears hesitant. But that excitement may come crashing down fast thanks to Osimhen's reportedly hefty wage demands, which would shake up Manchester United’s entire salary structure.
INEOS to look elsewhere for striker target
According to Givemesport, Osimhen is asking for close to £400,000-per-week—more than Bruno Fernandes’ £375,000-per-week including bonuses.
For a club now under INEOS' cost-conscious leadership, that kind of demand is raising major concerns, making the move unlikely.
Manchester United are reluctant to make Osimhen the top earner, fearing it could destabilise dressing room harmony and potentially push Fernandes toward a lucrative move to Al-Hilal, who are already circling.
Trusted journalist David Ornstein has hinted that a move to the Saudi Pro League might ultimately make more financial sense for Osimhen, unless he drops his demands or Manchester United move ground.
