The Red Devils have already been linked with a number of top-level centre-forwards.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has discussed the type of striker he wants for the club.

With the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Red Devils are expected to find another scorer that will increase their odds of winning more silverware next season.

Already, they have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.

"Everyone is different, obviously, but for a striker, the main thing is to score goals by any method, that is so far ahead of anything else," Ten Hag explained, as quoted by Sky Sports.

"We need a striker who scores goals because we have the ability in the team to put balls in the box, so we need a striker to finish.

"We have to build a new future, and we need a striker who not only scores goals but contributes by linking up play very well and pressing, which is very important."

United’s rivals, Manchester City, signed Erling Haaland, who has proved to be a vital asset for the Etihad outfit. Haaland’s goal output has kept the Citizens’ Premier League’s title defense hopes alive, while the Norwegian has also been impressive in the Champions League.

Looking at City and Haaland, Ten Hag would be convinced that a top striker is what he needs to enjoy a top-level performance at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, the Dutch tactician has discussed how ruthless consistency can be achieved by his teammates.

"By demanding it. We demand it from the players, and the players demand it from each other," he added.

"You do your job always to 100 percent, there are no ifs, buts, or maybes, you have to deliver the performance in every circumstance."

Ten Hag has already lifted a trophy with the Red Devils, a Carabao Cup final glory that ended United's six-year wait for a trophy.

They are still in three competitions as they are still contesting in the FA Cup and Europa League, while they remain on course to return to the Champions League via a top-four Premier League finish.
