He's a dream to play with - Palmer lauds Chelsea teammate as Blues’ best player
Despite claiming the man-of-the-match award against Liverpool, Cole Palmer has described one Chelsea teammate as the team’s best player this season.
Maresca acknowledged the Reds’ quality, highlighting the reasons for their Premier League title win.
The Blues boss explained that while the London club’s initial plan was to press high, they had to adapt to defend deeper at times due to Liverpool's strength.
“Today Liverpool again showed the reason they won the Premier League,” Maresca stated. “I promise you we did not plan the game to defend deep, we planned the game to high press in the way we always do.
“But sometimes the other team is so good that you have to defend deep, you have to adapt and the players dealt with that very well.”
Chelsea's win on Sunday positions them fifth in the standings, tied on points with Newcastle United, whom they will play next week.
