Juventus have been left sweating after UEFA omitted their name and logo from a list of teams involved in the 2023/24 Europa Conference League

European football’s governing body, UEFA have stirred speculation about a possible continental ban for Italian side Juventus after leaving the Old Lady’s logo out of an announcement for the 2023/24 Europa Conference League season.

Juventus continue to suffer the effects of the capital gains scandal

Juventus were bumped down to the Conference League qualification places after being docked 10 points for their involvement in the Plusvalenza scandal, where they were convicted of manipulating their records to show fictitious asset gains.

Juventus would have qualified for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League season without the deduction, but the punishment left the Old Lady playing in the third tier of European competition.

Now, Juventus could be denied even that, after their logo was omitted from the official list of teams for the tournament

Juventus sweating over UEFA oversight

UEFA are currently conducting their own investigations into the capital gains scandal, and a competition ban for Juventus has been touted as one of the possible punishments for the Serie A side.

If the speculation about Juventus’ omission from UEFA’s list is true, it could be the end of Juventus’ European participation in the 2023/24 season before the campaign has even started.

Although there is a possibility that the incident could be an accident on UEFA's part, the Old Lady will still be sitting nervously until a final verdict from the administrators is reached.
