In the end, there was nothing to separate the Kasasiro Boys at the base and the 15th-placed Leopards.

Despite picking their maiden point of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League campaign after a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Arua Hill SC, KCCA FC stayed rock-bottom on the log.

Headed into the tie, both teams had failed to grind a point this season, and the game presented the perfect chance for either side to get their season going.

In the end, there was nothing to separate the Kasasiro Boys at the base and the 15th-placed Leopards.

Arua Hill had looked to inflict another defeat on their visitors through an early Gadafi Wahab goal, but the latter equalized through captain Filbert Obenchan.

It was the hosts that made the faster start and should have been rewarded with an 11th minute, but Ibrahim Musa headed onto the post a Wahab corner.

Three minutes later, Arua Hill were not to be denied an opener, with Wahab netting on the second attempt after KCCA custodian Joel Emojong had saved his initial shot.

KCCA nearly found the leveller in the 36th minute, but goalkeeper Richard Anyama superbly saved a Muhammad Shaban header off Usama Arafat's freekick.

Into final bits of action in the first half, the guests finally broke the deadlock through Obenchan after Anyama failed to save his header stealthily.

The start to the second half had KCCA moving the ball with quite more freedom, albeit with chances coming at a peripheral.

A minute after the hour-mark, they nearly led for the first time in the game, but defender Geriga Atendele brilliantly blocked Arafat's freekick.

In the 84th minute, more misery struck KCCA as defender Peter Magambo got sent off following a reckless foul on Wahab.

It should have been 2-1 for Arua Hill in the final minute of the game, but Ibrahim Orit's superb cross was cleared by Obenchan to leave the game levelled.

KCCA will have an even more enormous task in their next match as they will host nemesis and champions Vipers SC on November 10 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, Arua Hill will visit record holders SC Villa at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
