Troost-Ekong told Pulse Sports Nigeria that he spent a lot of time in Nigeria as a kid.

Nigeria will be visitors in Monrovia where they face a stubborn Sierra Leone with the ticket to the tournament in Ivory Coast at stake.

Troost-Ekong and his fellow Super Eagles stars took time off from their sessions to speak to the media at their Eko Hotels camp.

In his chat with Pulse Sports, the 29-year-old centre-back spoke about his affinity for his tattoos and what the ones on his body mean.

“I love tattoos, that’s very obvious,” the Serie A-based defender started. “(The tattoos) on my arm pay homage to my roots - being a Nigerian and spending a lot of time in Nigeria.”

“I think that is one thing people don’t know - that when i was a kid i spent a lot of time in Nigeria. I wasn’t born here but i was here (in Lagos) four months out of the year.”

“My father still lives in Lagos and always has and the tattoos are my way of expressing myself.”

‘I want to pay homage to Nigeria and other difficult things that are part of that. The more you look at my tattoos, the more you’d probably piece together most of the puzzle and those things that mean a lot to me,” he added.
