The Red Devils have to deal with increased cases of injuries as they remain in three competitions.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is still in doubt about whether Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw will be ready for the Nottingham Forest clash on Sunday.

Both were not in the squad that faced – and drew 2-2 with Sevilla on Thursday in a Europa League first-leg quarter-final match – and the Dutchman is not sure they will recover in time.

"Are any players available that were missing? For Sunday, yeah, [they] could be. But we have to see," explained the Dutchman.

"We have now two sessions to go of training, so I don't know by now. But it can be that Scott and Luke return to the squad, but [we are] not sure."

Ten Hag is confident the available players will do duty in the absence of their injured counterparts.

"We have depth in the squad. We have to use the squad – that's also what we did yesterday," he added.

"In the meantime, you have to win games, so you also have to have a tactical approach to winning games, but I think we have good players, and when we have problems – injuries and suspensions – we have depth in the squad.

"[Against Sevilla], Aaron Wan-Bissaka played very well, Antony played very well, Marcel Sabitzer played really well. Bruno played very well, and Anthony Martial as well."

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez – United’s first-choice centre-backs – were injured during the Old Trafford clash against Sevilla.

On further updates on Martinez and Varane, Ten Hag replied; "No, sorry, [I do not know any more information].

"It is not even 24 hours [since the Sevilla match], so I don't have a complete diagnosis. So I can't tell [the severity of the injuries] in this moment."

Cheikhou Kouyate and Moussa Niakhate remain doubtful for Forest after they left the field – with what appeared to be hamstring problems - during the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend. Renan Lodi and Gustavo Scarpa are injured too.
