Another day, another case: No reprieve for notorious AFC Leopards as defender threatens to drag club to SDT over unpaid salaries

AFC Leopards face legal action from ex-defender Mudenyu over unpaid salaries, further straining the club's reputation and finances.

Former AFC Leopards defender Robert Mudenyu is gearing up to haul the club before the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT).

At the heart of the dispute is a hefty Ksh. 901,000 salary arrear that the Leopards owe Mudenyu.

This unsettling revelation comes on the heels of last week's standoff when another former defender, Collins Shivachi, delivered an ultimatum to the club.

Shivachi threatened to drag Ingwe to the SDT if they continued to withhold his Ksh 1.2 million, the amount due post the expiration of his contract with the club.

Mudenyu, in a recent conversation with Citizen TV, expressed his growing frustration at the club administration for non-payment of salaries.

"I have tried to talk to them about the money they owe me, and I have done this through email for records,” he revealed.

However, his attempts seem to be falling on deaf ears, with no responses coming forth from the club's higher-ups for the last two weeks.

"They asked me to suggest how I want them to pay me, but unfortunately, it has taken two weeks without their response to the mail I wrote them. They owe me Ksh 991,000," a visibly upset Mudenyu disclosed.

Further illuminating on the matter, he said, "When they told me to write an email, it was to capture how I wanted them to pay me. I have told them that I am expecting them to pay me the whole money at once."

Several former Leopards' players, whose contracts were not renewed after the last season, are reportedly mulling over similar measures.

Amidst this unfolding financial drama, Mudenyu has not lost sight of his future. With the transfer deadline day drawing near, whispers in the football circuit suggest he might soon be seen donning the colors of top-flight debutants, Murang'a SEAL.

"I am working on something good, and very soon, you will just see me somewhere," said Mudenyu, hinting at his next move. His statement aligns with the buzz in the football world, as he added, "Even as we are talking now, I am in the process of finalizing personal terms with a top-flight side," he added.

The current imbroglio paints a grim picture for the AFC Leopards, raising concerns about the financial health and management of the club.

As the clock ticks down to the transfer deadline day, the pressure is mounting on the Leopards' management.

Not only do they need to square off their financial commitments, but they must also work on retaining and recruiting top talent to ensure the club’s competitiveness in the forthcoming season.
