He has never played for any other team other than the Kitende side, in his entire career, with Wakiso Giants providing a fresh environment for his development.

Following his recent exit from Vipers SC, central defender, Bashir Asiku is set to sign for Uganda Premier League outfit, Wakiso Giants Football Club.

The 23 year-old, together with his former teammate at the Venoms, Frank 'Zaga' Tumwesigye, will be Purple Sharks with both deals imminent, according to Swift Sports.

Like Zaga, Asiku is a St Mary's Secondary School Kitende (SMASK) graduate, which is also Vipers' main feeder side.

Asiku, who has previously featured for Uganda's U-17 and U-20 teams, is a hugely talented defender who is yet to reach fulfill the potential he promised as a teenager.

At Vipers, he has been limited by injuries, alleged indiscipline, and the stiff competition at the club.

Over his four top-flight years at Kitende, Asiku has only played 37 league games, including seven last season.

Nonetheless, he is a three-time Uganda Premier League and two-time Uganda Cup winner, experience that could prove priceless at Wakiso Giants.
