Alleged reasons why Fati, who was deemed the future of Barcelona, was loaned out to Brighton have been revealed

Barcelona’s Ansu Fati shocked onlookers in the summer after agreeing to a loan to Brighton, despite claims by manager Xavi that he would be part of the squad for the new season, and the reason for the move has finally been revealed.

Ansu Fati’s Barcelona struggles

Fati had come through Barcelona’s La Masia ranks as one of the highest-rated talents that the club had produced after setting a number of impressive records with the first team, but his initial promise was cut short following a spate of injuries that cost him a place in the team.

Fati suffered back-to-back blows and required multiple surgeries to fix a meniscus laceration in his left knee and was consequently ruled out for nearly a calendar year.

The forward has not been the same ever since and struggled for form and game time, especially under Xavi Hernandez, ultimately leading to his temporary departure from the club.

Reasons for Fati’s Loan move revealed

According to a report from Spanish news outlet SPORT, Fati’s departure from Barcelona and his loan move to Brighton were the consequence of decisions by Xavi and his staff, which oversees the day-to-day operations of the Blaugrana.

According to the report, Xavi, backed by his coaching staff made the decision to loan Fati out as the forward had suffered stagnation following his injury problems.

The Blaugrana hierarchy allegedly wanted to see Fati improve facets of his game, but grew frustrated when the improvements did not come, leading them to the decision to loan him out to Brighton.

At 20-years-old, Fati could still show significant improvement in future, hence the nature of his loan at Brighton, which does not include a future “buy” clause, allowing Barcelona to assess the Spanish forward in the future before making another decision on his status at the club.
