Busoga won the first leg 2-0 in Jinja to end coach Peter Onen’s tenure prematurely after just two games.

Blacks Power will be seeking to exert revenge on Busoga United on Tuesday when the two meet at the Akii Bua Stadium in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Busoga won the first leg 2-0 in Jinja to end coach Peter Onen’s tenure prematurely after just two games. The team replaced him with Hussein Mbalangu in a bid to arrest the faulty start on their debut campaign.

They’ve managed to pick only eleven points out of 12 games but Mbalangu has been credited for gradually improving the team.

Improvement

The Lira side has lost only two of their last eight games while losing only twice to SC Villa and Vipers at home.

“There’s a gradual improvement as we are trying to correct the mistakes that cost us in the first round even in the matches that I wasn’t present,” Mbalangu told Pulse Sports.

“We’ve improved much as you can see in our recent games but we need to push more. There are players that we added to help in the fight and I’m glad that they’ve finally received licenses,” he added.

Mbalangu’s claim of improvement in the team can be backed by some recent results. For example, they succumbed to a 5-0 thumping at the hands of BUL at home in the first round but were able to fight for a point when the two met in Njeru last week.

On the other side, Busoga will be looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Maroons at the start of the second round to salvage a result. The team’s financial woes were exposed when they failed to travel to Kitgum for a Uganda Cup match.

Their coach Ikoba Afani is hopeful ahead of the game.

“the boys are really pushing themselves to see to it that we move out of the situation we are in, We’re targeting only one result from our games – a win,” Afani says. Blacks Power are 12th on the table with 12 points while Busoga sit 15th with three less.
