After it had ended one-all following 90 minutes and extra-time, BUL ran out strong in the post-match penalties, winning them 6-5.

One-time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners BUL FC eliminated joint-record holders KCCA FC (10) in the quarterfinals after over 120 minutes of nervy action at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Saturday.

After it had ended one-all following 90 minutes and extra-time, BUL ran out strong in the post-match penalties, winning them 6-5.

BUL netted through versed forward Alex Kitata, with the visitors finding theirs through winger Ettiene Katenga Openga.

BUL drew first blood in the eighth minute through a brilliantly lobbed effort from distance by Kitata, after Martin Aprem robbed Herbert Achai of possession.

Five minutes later, Katenga levelled matters through a well-placed ball after the hosts' defence failed to clear Usama Arafat's cross.

In the 19th minute, it coould have been 2-1 for BUL, but goalkeeper Anthony Emojong was superb as he expertly denied winger Reagan Kalyowa.

Into the second half, KCCA returned the better side and probed for a second with both Katenga and Emmanuel Wasswa missing the target from distance.

Into extra-time, both teams preferred caution to all-out attacks as the chances became minimal, they settled for penalty shootouts.

BUL head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko then introduced goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa for Tom Ikara, to try and win them the shootout.

Mustafa Mujuzi, Mustafa Kizza, Joel Sserunjogi, Filbert Obenchan, Emmanuel Loki, all scored their penalties for KCCA, with Herbert Achai and Peter Magambo both hitting the woodwork.

On the other hand, Ibrahim Kazindula, Ibrahim Mugulusi, Joel Mutakubwa, Ronald Otti, Walter Ochora, Pascal Ngobi while Jerome Kirya skied his spot-kick.

BUL join NEC FC, who were the first team in the semifinals having beaten Police FC on Wednesday at the Kavumba Recreation Center.
