Coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko has bid farewell to Mbale Heroes after their successful qualification for the FUFA Big League.

Kikomeko, who joined Mbale Heroes in October 2022, quickly led the historic club back to the FUFA Big League, securing a 7-0 aggregate victory over Bukedea Central FC in the Eastern Regional League play-offs.

The first leg ended in a resounding 5-0 win, while the return leg sealed their mission with a 2-0 triumph.

Confirming his departure from the club, Kikomeko stated, "I will not be with Mbale Heroes next season, but I am proud to have promoted the team to the FUFA Big League.

He further hinted at his intention to take some players with him to the next level, saying, "Don't be surprised if I bring along some players."

Kikomeko, a holder of a CAF B license, has achieved success with several local clubs in the past.

In the 2015/16 season, he guided Busoga United to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

He will now assume the role previously held by Simeone Masaba at BUL FC. Masaba had been serving as an interim coach since Alex Isabirye's departure to Vipers SC based in Kitende.

BUL FC fans were disappointed with the team's performance in the 2022/23 season, dropping from winning the Uganda Cup under Isabirye and representing Uganda in the CAF Confederations Cup to finishing in the eighth position.

Kikomeko faces the challenge of bringing joy back to the BUL FC fans and has his work cut out for him.
