Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly considering a surprise move to an African club ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Shocking reports have emerged suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo could be headed to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in a sensational move ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Wydad—recently having parted ways with head coach Rulani Mokwena—are seriously exploring the possibility of signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The Moroccan club, dubbed “The Red Castle,” is reportedly looking to make a blockbuster addition to their squad as they prepare to face the world’s best clubs on the grand stage in the United States.

Ronaldo, currently playing for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, has a contract that runs until June 30, 2025.

However, speculation is growing that the 40-year-old may not renew his deal, potentially opening the door to a stunning transfer in the coming months.

With Al Nassr falling short in the Saudi Pro League and Ronaldo reportedly open to new challenges, Wydad could offer a unique opportunity for the Portuguese superstar to leave another lasting legacy—this time in African football.

Wydad are set to compete in Group G of the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, alongside English champions Manchester City, Italian powerhouse Juventus, and UAE's Al Ain.

The group is undoubtedly one of the toughest, and Wydad’s management appears keen to strengthen their squad with elite talent to increase their chances of advancing.

Bringing Ronaldo on board would not only bolster Wydad’s attacking firepower but also bring global attention and commercial appeal to the club and African football at large.

The move would be historic, marking the first time a player of Ronaldo’s global stature joins an African club.

Ronaldo, who has already played in Portugal, England, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, has continuously defied expectations with his longevity and ambition.

Though nearing the twilight of his career, he remains in remarkable physical condition and continues to score regularly for Al Nassr.

Wydad are not the only club interested in his services. Reports also link him to Botafogo, one of the four Brazilian clubs set to compete in the same tournament.

However, sources suggest Wydad are prepared to table a competitive offer, leveraging their Club World Cup status and potential marquee role for Ronaldo.
