George Nkurunziza resigned from his position as a FUFA referee after a match-fixing probe pinned him.

The budding referee was among eight people who were suspended for three months to give way for investigations over match-fixing allegations.

Nkurunziza has opted to resign after realizing that the federation was planning to ban him for ten years.

“I write this to inform [you] that from this day, I resign from active refereeing,” the website quoted a letter he allegedly wrote to the referee’s manager.

Nkurunziza  described his nine-year journey as “requires you to produce oceans of submissiveness and loyalty in return for servitude to the most ungracious humans.”

Our efforts to get him to confirm were in vain as no one picked up his phone.

Three-month ban

Nkurunziza was suspended with another referee Deogratius Opiyo on May 3rd and six players.

They include Gaddafi duo Andrew Waiswa and midfielders Mahad 'Yaya' Kakooza and Godfrey lwesibawa. The latter had already moved to Kitara in the FUFA Big League.

The others were Calvary FC goalkeeper Saleh Maganda, Northern Gateway FC goalkeeper Franco Oringa and Ndejje University right-back Mwima Abdallah.

Their suspension was expected to end on August 1st.
