Alex Iwobi’s quest for 10 Premier League goals this season is delayed after Fulham’s shock 3-1 home defeat to Everton, despite his strong form this campaign.

Nigeria and Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi will have to postpone his bid to reach double figures in Premier League goals this season after Fulham suffered a surprising 3-1 home defeat to Everton at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Iwobi, who has been in fine form with nine goals and six assists so far in the 2024/2025 Premier League campaign, was hoping to notch his 10th goal milestone.

However, Everton spoiled the party for the 28-year-old, who featured alongside national teammate Calvin Baseey, with a remarkable comeback victory.

Fulham took an early lead and were ahead 1-0 seconds before halftime, but Everton responded quickly after the break.

Vitalii Mykolenko equalised in the 48th minute, before Michael Keane and Beto turned the game on its head with goals that put the visitors 3-1 up. Although Fulham fought hard, they could not find a way back.

Iwobi’s attacking contributions this season have been impressive, with eight goal involvements (goals plus assists) already surpassing his total from last season.

Ruiz opened the scoring for Fulham.

He has scored one goal and provided one assist in his last four league matches, demonstrating a consistent run of form.

After the setback, Fulham have dropped to 11th in the Premier League table with 51 points from 36 games, while Everton sit 13th with 42 points.

Iwobi will now look to bounce back and continue his impressive season as Fulham aim to secure a European qualification spot.

With at least a week before his next opportunity to reach double figures, Iwobi’s focus will be on helping Fulham regain momentum in the remaining fixtures of the season.
