The World Cup winner is expected to leave the French giants after falling out with the club's chiefs following suspension for organising an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier has failed to confirm whether Lionel Messi will play again for the club after the legendary forward was suspended for two weeks for an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

The former Lille tactocian declined to comment on the issues surrounding the suspension, which was imposed on Messi after missing a training session on Monday.

After several days without anyone from the club commenting on Messi's situation, the PSG coach broke his silence.

"I’ve been informed by the club about the decision to suspend Leo Messi at the beginning of the week. I’ve decided not to comment about that [story]," he said.

Messi’s suspension means he is set to miss this weekend’s trip to Troyes, as well as the home game against Ajaccio the week after, but the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's future beyond this season is in doubt.

Messi apologised for the trip on Friday, saying the trip had been planned earlier and that he had only been informed by the club that there would not be an off day very late.

“Hello. Well, I wanted to make this video after everything that's going on. First of all, I apologise again to my team-mates at the club. I honestly thought that we were going to have the day off after the game as we had done before,” Messi said.

“I had organised this trip to Saudi Arabia, which I had previously cancelled and I couldn't go. Once again, I apologise for what I did. So here I am, waiting to see what the club wants to do, nothing more. A hug."

Asked whether he could count on Messi for the remainder of PSG’s title chase, Galtier added: “We will see when Leo comes back. There will be discussions with the club but also with Leo.”

PSG, one of the highest-spending clubs in Europe since their Qatari owners took over in 2011, have had their worst week in years but still have five matches to play as they try to win Ligue 1.

The club have long been accused of amassing expensive megastars with not enough cohesion or club spirit

The fans have had a massive fallout with the 2022 World Cup winner and conducted rare demonstrations against club chiefs and outside the Brazilian forward Neymar’s house.
