Gor Mahia have a great chance to win a third straight FKF Premier League crown after watching title rivals Kenya Police and Tusker FC both lose on Wednesday.

Gor Mahia have a chance to move to the top of the FKF Premier League table after receiving a big boost in the title race.

This follows Kenya Police’s 2-1 loss away to Kakamega Homeboyz and Tusker’s 2-0 defeat to FC Talanta that jolted the title race, swinging the pendulum in Gor Mahia’s favour.

K’Ogalo play basement side Nairobi City Stars on Thursday and if they win, it will take them to 56 points from 30 games, one ahead of Tusker and just two behind Police.

Gor Mahia will still have a game in hand over their rivals which if they win, they will move one point ahead of Police and four better than Tusker, with three games to go.

What Do Gor Mahia Need to Win the League?

Police missed an opportunity to build on their momentum when Moses Shumah’s eighth-minute penalty was cancelled out by Mohammed Bajaber six minutes later but Glen Otunga won it early in the second half for Homeboyz.

Meanwhile, Tusker failed to take advantage of Police’s slip-up when Emmanuel Osoro’s brace secured a 2-0 win for Talanta to put a major dent in their title quest.

Gor Mahia now need to win all their remaining five games and they will be celebrating a third straight league title and a record-extending 22nd in their history.

However, it will not be easy as they play Murang’a Seal and Ulinzi Stars after City Stars, while they will also tackle AFC Leopards, before concluding the season with a clash against Kenya Police which will likely be the title decider.
