Gor Mahia are set to lose attacker Rogers Mugisha who is close to joining Danish side AC Horsens in the January transfer window.

The Ugandan joined the club at the start of this campaign from UPDF FC but he is set to cut ties with the 20-time Kenyan champions just four months into his spell with K’Ogalo.

Talks have been ongoing between the two clubs and it appears Gor Mahia have agreed to let him leave despite being a key member of coach Johnathan McKinstry’s side.

“Some talks have been ongoing with the Danish club,” said a Gor official who did not wish to be named as he is not authorised to speak on behalf of the club. “He arrived here four months ago on a one-year contract but if there is good money coming to the club then why not.”

The player arrived in Kenya with much expectation after being one of Uganda’s stars at the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt.

Mugisha was named the man of the match in Uganda’s encounter against Central African Republic and was also named in the Best XI of the group stages.

He went straight into the team with McKinstry deploying him on the wing or in midfield at times and became a regular starter until a hamstring injury suffered against Bidco United in late October left him on the sidelines for over one month.

He returned to the team last weekend when he started on the bench as Gor Mahia came from behind to draw 2-2 with Nzoia Sugar in Homa Bay but it appears he will play little part this season as K’Ogalo have two more games before the end of the year.

Horsens will be playing in the Danish second division next season following their relegation from the top flight.
