Table leaders SC Villa, Vipers and KCCA FC will be vying for the title, although the record league champions go into the final day as favourites with a two-point lead.

For the first time in a while, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League will be decided on the final day, with three clubs standing a realistic chance to win the league title.

Table leaders SC Villa, Vipers and KCCA FC will be vying for the title, although the record league champions go into the final day as favourites with a two-point lead.

As the three clubs tussle it out on the pitch, league broadcasters and sponsors StarTimes have devised a plan which will accommodate the eventual champions.

"It's going to be one trophy," Aldrine Nsubuga, the Director of Marketing StarTimes, told Pulse Sports before adding.

"But its branding for all three clubs will also be in place; the trophy will be in one strategic location, in easy proximity within the three stadiums."

"Preparations that assume any of the three clubs will be champion have been made at all three venues, including the trophy delivery, which will be done by a lead Police car (with sirens).

"To deliver the trophy to the stadium where the winning club will be within 20-30 minutes at full time, I can assure everyone that we will pull it off."

The marketing guru also added that the league finale is a sign that the season has been competitive, which makes more people want to watch the league and, in the long run, grow the broadcaster's brand.

"As league sponsors, it's unprecedented that we have a league that goes to the last day, and we still don't know who will win it, which is great; every team has had a say," Aldrine added.

"The teams have really made it exciting, which increases the value of the TV games and reduces the challenge of selecting fixtures."

SC Villa have to win their game against URA FC to claim their first title since 2004.

All three teams in contention are playing at home in their final games, with the record league champions and table leaders on 52 points, SC Villa hosting URA FC at Wankulukuku.

KCCA FC, on 50 points, are facing Soltilo Bright Stars at the MTN Omondi stadium, and Vipers, also on 50 points, will host Busoga United at St Marys Stadium Kitende.
