The draw comes just a week after another relegation-threatened side Blacks Power frustrated them at home. BUL has won only twice on the road this season and once in their last five matches.

Coach Alex Isabirye, once again, attempted to steer away from the season's StarTimes Uganda Premier League title discussion after his BUL FC drew 1-1 against a struggling UPDF on Tuesday at Bombo.

Hillary Onek scored the opener but a defensive blunder caused by a mishap in communication between Saidi Keni in BUL’s goal and his defence later in the game cost them the win.

According to Isabirye, his team is not in vying for the league title claiming that they’re only playing to win their games.

“We’re not competing for the title but learning how to try and to win three points from every game that we play,” the coach remarked.

Wasteful

Onek got at the end of an Ivan Wani low cross in the 50th minute to fire BUL into the lead but the wasteful Jinja side could not secure the win.

The visitors kept wasting chances with Samuel Sekamatte and Ibrahim Nsiimbe the chief culprits but they were later punished for that.

Ezekiel Katende rushed through to meet a long delivery and beat both BUL keeper Saidi Keni and his centre back Ronald Otti to slide it in.

“I think we played poorly today,” Isabirye acknowledged, “I believe it is because we missed about five players and the ones that replaced them failed to cope because they lacked match fitness.

Douglas Muganga missed through suspension, their midfield kingpins Pascal Ngobi and George Kasonko and left winger Reagan Kalyoowa are out injured.

The edible oil manufacturers, with 29 points, missed the chance to close the gap with leaders KCCA to one point.
