The inaugural edition of the Schools Alumni Champions League is heating up, with the round of 16 producing some exciting football action.

Among the standout teams were Solida FC and Sasi FC, alumni teams from Kibuli Secondary School under the KOSA League, who secured their spots in the quarterfinals with impressive victories.

Solida were the biggest winners on the night, thumping Record Breakers, the alumni team of Uganda Martyrs Namugongo, with a commanding 4-0 victory.

The team displayed excellent attacking prowess led by man of the match Mulamba Blancha and Mufti Luzinda and solid defence marshalled by Morris Lukyamuzi, Brian Oyuka and Ali Lutaaya.

But it was the end of the road for 4z Tazz FC who were the only team eliminated via penalties at this stage by Mbarara High’s Msamiati FC following a goalless draw.

In another round of 16 clash, Sasi took on Kafubs, the alumni team of Ntare School. It was a closely contested match, with both teams putting up a good fight.

However, Sasi emerged victorious with a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from their top striker Isaac Owori.

Sasi will now seek to avenge for 4z Tazz’s loss when they face Msamiati in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, Solida will face Nshera, the alumni team of Ntare School, in what promises to be an exciting quarterfinal match.

Ntare School dominated the round of 16, with three of their alumni teams advancing to the quarterfinals.

SC Kalele, the league champions, defeated Thazobalo from Kings College, Budo with a single goal, while Machando overcame Cityzens from Makerere College School with a 2-0 victory.

Kafubs, however, went down to Sasi in a hard-fought battle.

Chwezi, the alumni team of Mbarara High School, also advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory over Olympians from St Mary’s Kitovu.

Green Cave, the alumni team of St Mary’s Kitovu, also secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over Monday Law from Budo.

The quarterfinals promise to be even more exciting, with the clashes played over two legs.

The four quarter final clashes will be played on the days coinciding with the European Champions League, with the first leg played between April 11-13.

The second leg of the quarterfinals will take place on April 18-19 at the Legends Rugby Grounds.
