Manchester United shot stopper Andre Onana is reportedly considering retiring from international football for the second time.

Manchester United's Andre Onana finds himself at a crossroads once again regarding his international career after a lacklustre showing at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he barely featured for Cameroon amid reported tensions with FA president Samuel Eto'o.

The AFCON Fallout

"The goalkeeper played just once in his country's four games in the Africa Cup of Nations as they fell to Nigeria in the last 16 of the competition on Saturday," reports the Daily Mail. "Now, the 27-year-old's lack of game time and an ongoing rift with Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto'o may convince him to quit international football for the second time in just over 12 months.”

Onana's struggles at the Premier League giants, Manchester United, compounded with his limited role in Cameroon's AFCON campaign, have cast doubts over his international future. Despite his £47.2 million move from Inter Milan, the goalkeeper has failed to make a significant impact.

The Background Story

"Onana retired from international football in December 2022 after he was ejected from Cameroon's World Cup camp in Qatar following a falling out with Eto'o and Song," the report recalls. "However, he reversed his decision last September, shortly after joining United."

Returning to Manchester, Onana is expected to reclaim his spot between the sticks for their upcoming clash against Wolves. With his deputy, Altay Bayindir, likely to be relegated to the bench, Onana faces a pivotal moment in his career, both domestically and internationally.
