Super Eagles' Victor Osimhen has started the season for Napoli in blistering form as he ended last season to alert top European clubs like Arsenal ahead of deadline day.

Premier League contenders Arsenal are mulling over a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen ahead of deadline day.

Arsenal have reportedly entered the race for the 2023 Serie A top scorer as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attack before the window shuts.

Osimhen off to a blistering start

After what was a remarkable 2022/2023 campaign for the Nigerian forward, Osimhen has kicked on from where he stopped.

The 24-year-old has become a hero in Naples after he inspired Napoli to their first league title in over 30 years.

Nigeria’s Osimhen broke records en route to becoming the first African in Italian league history to be named the best striker in Serie A.

His 26 goals proved decisive for Napoli’s impressive win last season and he is back to help the club defend their crown.

Osimhen has netted three goals in just two appearances this season to help Napoli to two wins in their opening two matches in the Serie A.

Arsenal in for Osimhen

Following his excellent form for the Italian champions, Osimhen remains a hot property with several top European clubs keeping close tabs on him.

According to a report by Football Transfers, one of the clubs Arsenal have already held talks as they look to sign the Nigerian striker ahead of deadline day.

Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gaspar has reportedly contacted Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to enquire about the possibility of luring their star man away from Naples.

The move by the Gunners is in a bid to help manager, Mikel Arteta build on their title charge last season with the addition of a world class forward.

Arteta sees for the former LOSC Lille man as the ideal striker to lead his Arsenal side as they look to challenge defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League title again.

While Arsenal and Arteta are huge admirers, it is rather unlikely that Osimhen will depart Napoli on deadline day.

The Nigerian superstar looks set to remain at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, where he still has two years left on his current contract.
