Ugandan and CECAFA champions Royal Giants will compete for the $300,000 ultimate prize money alongside six other boys’ schools from around the continent.

CAF has confirmed the fourteen teams that will take part in the continental finals of the 2023 African Schools Football Championship that will take place from April 5th to 8th in South Africa.

The body had earlier confirmed that the finals will be held at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa.

Ugandan and CECAFA champions Royal Giants will compete for the $300,000 ultimate prize money alongside six other boys’ schools from around the continent.

The runners-up will get $200,000 and $150,000 respectively.

They include hosts Clapham High School, CEG Sainte Rita (Benin), Complexe Scolaire Ben Sekou Sylla (Guinea), CS Horizon of Bukavu (DR Congo), Ecole Hedi Ayadi (Tunisia) and Salima Secondary School (Malawi).

In the girls’ competition, the teams confirmed include Anse Boileau (Seychelles), CEG Colby (Benin), CEG Mfilou (Congo-Brazzaville), Ecole Omar Ibn Khatab (Morocco), Edendale Technical (South Africa), Scan Aid (The Gambia) and CECAFA representatives Fountain Gate Dodoma Secondary School (Tanzania).

The schools qualified after going through their national and regional phases. There are six regions (zones) in Africa- which are CECAFA (East Africa), WAFU A (West Africa), WAFU B (West Africa), COSAFA (Southern Africa), UNIFFAC (Central Africa) and UNAF (North Africa).
