As assertive and confident as he is known, the tactician added, "I can't wait to play. Even now, if they want, they can come."

In his pre-match interview, URA head coach David Obua asserted his team would "of course go through" to the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals at the expense of joint-record winners KCCA FC.

As assertive and confident as he is known, the tactician added, "I can't wait to play. Even now, if they want, they can come."

Indeed, KCCA eventually showed up, and despite a heavy downpour halting play, the battle happened at the Mehta Stadium, Lugazi on a Monday evening.

Obua had anticipated his "boys will play with high intensity," and they did just that at home turf.

The Tax Collectors acquitted themselves well and dominated proceedings in terms of possession and chances but for a goal.

In the end, KCCA head coach Abdallah Mubiru, who projected a day before that "it's a knockout game and the result is what matters," snatched the victory.

Off the bench, Mustafa Kizza struck from a freekick in the 85th minute to beat goalkeeper James Alitho.

Incidentally, Obua had promised to play the latter as a forward in the past game against Maroons FC, before he later turned up as a backup for custodian Rogers Omedwa and in the sticks on Thursday and today, respectively.

Meanwhile, KCCA have joined FUFA Big League leaders Police FC, Regional League side Pajule Lions and fellow Uganda Premier League sides BUL FC and Kitara FC in the quarterfinals.
