Tottenham vs West Ham: Match preview and where and when to watch the game

Stephen Oladehinde 18:38 - 07.12.2023

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are set to face off in a highly anticipated London derby, marking the end of Gameweek 15 in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The match is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2023, with an 8:15 pm GMT kickoff time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

Recent form

Tottenham began the season strongly but have recently experienced a dip in form, failing to win their last four Premier League games, including three defeats.

However, they managed a commendable 3-3 draw against Manchester City last weekend. West Ham, on the other hand, are on a three-game unbeaten streak, drawing their most recent match against Crystal Palace.

Possible lineups

Tottenham's potential lineup could feature Guglielmo Vicario in goal, with a defensive quartet of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, and Destiny Udogie.

The midfield might consist of Yves Bissouma and Giovani Lo Celso, while the attack could be led by Son Heung-min, supported by Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Bryan Gil.

West Ham's lineup might include Alphonse Areola as the goalkeeper, with a defence comprising Vladimir Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, and Emerson Palmieri.

The midfield could feature James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez, and the attack might be led by Jarrod Bowen, flanked by Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta.

Key players

Son Heung-min will be a crucial player for Tottenham, having scored five goals and provided three assists in eight Premier League home games against West Ham.

For West Ham, Jarrod Bowen, who has scored in each of his six Premier League away appearances this season, will be a significant threat.

Historical record

Tottenham has a better historical record against West Ham, with 101 wins compared to West Ham's 66. The teams have drawn 54 times.

However, West Ham was the first team to win a Premier League game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April 2019.

Injuries and suspensions

Tottenham are boosted by the return of Cristian Romero from suspension, but several players including Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, and Ivan Perisic remain sidelined due to injuries.

West Ham have no new injury concerns, although Michail Antonio is still recovering from a hamstring issue.

Analysis and prediction

Both teams have shown capabilities of scoring, with Tottenham's recent matches involving at least three goals and West Ham finding the net in 10 of their last 11 meetings with Spurs.

Tottenham's attacking play, despite their injury crisis, has been commendable, while West Ham’s resilience makes them formidable opponents. A closely contested match is expected, possibly ending in a narrow win for Tottenham or a high-scoring draw.
