While St. Lawrence want to extend their perfect winning run to five in as many games, Nkumba see it as a must-win encounter to seal progress to the knockout stages.

It will be a battle of differing goals as Nkumba University hosts table leaders St. Lawrence University (SLAU) in the Pepsi University Football League on Tuesday in Entebbe.

While St. Lawrence want to extend their perfect winning run to five in as many games, Nkumba see it as a must-win encounter to seal progress to the knockout stages.

Nkumba currently lie second in Group E with seven points, while St. Lawrence lead the pack with an impressive 12.

“St. Lawrence is a big challenge. It is currently one of the best teams in the league and they know their game; they play the pressing type of game,” Nkumba head coach Suleiman Bbossa told the press.

“It is always a battle of inches against them if you don’t do well in those close carry areas, you open up real opportunities and they will be excited to take them so at home, we don't intend to open up so much,” Bbosa added.

"There have been some massive occasions where the games have gone down to the wire, and I remember some very close games over the years, added Bbossa

On the other hand, St. Lawrence are already through to the knockout stage and are hoping to cement qualification and maintain their perfect run.

“Nkumba's tie is a must-win for us. We are in a situation that denotes that we must win all our remaining matches to prove our doubters wrong,” head coach Davis Nnono noted.

“We had a good win against Gulu, which really energized us and has given us more confidence as we go to Entebbe to play Nkumba,” Nnono added.

In the same Group, having played five games, Gulu University and International University of East Africa lie third and fourth with four and two points, respectively.
