Mayanja scored a brace against Wakiso Giants FC in the quarter-final to help KCCA reach this stage of the competition, and his services upfront will be missed.

KCCA FC will be without some of their key players when they take on URA FC in the semi-final of the FUFA Super 8 Tournament Friday evening at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

The club communicated Thursday evening that young goal poacher Abubakar Mayanja would miss the tie due to a “caution measure” and did not divulge any details.

Mayanja scored a brace against Wakiso Giants FC in the quarter-final to help KCCA reach this stage of the competition, and his services upfront will be missed.

The newly promoted striker is not the only key player missing. Team captain Julius Poloto was stretchered off against Wakiso and has been ruled out of the tie.

“Captain Julius Poloto has stepped up his recovery this week. He has been working with the strength and conditioning coach as he prepares for return to play. However, he will not feature in the semi-final,” the club noted.

Also ruled out is Angolan defender Emilson Gonzaga, who suffered a knock in a pre-season friendly game.

Right-back Hrunah Lukwago is on compassionate leave and will also miss the game, while youthful goalkeeper Juma Mutebi is ruled out with an injury.

Meanwhile, Angolan right-back Bruno Adilson Mfulu has recovered from a knock he suffered in a friendly game against Kakamega Homeboyz and will be available for selection.

KCCA go up against URA in a rescheduled semi-final with their eyes on making the final and eventually winning the Super 8 trophy.
